- Research

The FAMO group specializes in using spectroscopic and nonlinear optical techniques to characterize the structure, dynamics and intermolecular interactions of molecular systems in a variety of condensed phase environments. Group members have complementary skills and interests ranging from materials development to fundamental quantum physics and encompassing computer modelling, photophysics, radiation transport, non-linear and ultrafast optics.

Main efforts focus on understanding and exploiting the interactions between photoactive molecules and the local microenvironment, concentrating on three distinct, but interrelated areas: biophysical systems, nanostructured semiconductor materials for photocatalytic applications and light propagation in random scattering media with optical gain.
